Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells. This results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin.

The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin.

Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

What is a Kybella Treatment Like?

Your certified Revive Day Spa injection specialist will administer the Kybella with a fine needle into the area under the chin after numbing the area for about 10 minutes. There are several separate injections during your session which will likely last about 30 minutes total.

What Should I Expect After My Treatment?

Moderate swelling with occur in the area injected for approximately two days after treatment. The swelling will gradually decrease after, lasting anywhere from a few more days to two weeks.

Kybella May Be Right for you if:

  • You’re bothered, unhappy, self-conscious, or embarrassed by fat under the chin, also known as submental fullness
  • Feel the condition makes you look older or heavier than you actually are
  • You don’t want to have surgery
  • Eat well and exercise, but submental fullness does not go away

What to expect with Kybella?

Before starting treatment, your healthcare specialist will examine the area under and around your chin to determine if KYBELLA® is right for you. Then, your specialist will tailor your treatment to the amount of fat under the chin and your aesthetic goals.

Kybella Procedure

During your Kybella™ procedure, a topical numbing solution is first applied to the neck and chin area. Next, a grid that allows us to make precise injections spaced evenly apart is placed on the skin.

Finally, the Kybella™ drug is administered via a series of 12-20 injections. Treatment only takes about 15 minutes, and aside from mild swelling, patients report little pain and no other side effects. Kybella™ carries fewer risks than traditional liposuction and requires little to no downtime.

When Will I See Results From My Treatment?

The destruction of fat cells is a process and you will see the results between 4-6 weeks.

How Often Will I Need Kybella Treatments?

About 20% of the fat cells in the area are destroyed during a treatment. It is common that our Injection Specialist will recommend two treatments to increase this amount.

This means that the effects of the Kybella treatments are permanent assuming you maintain the weight you are at the time of treatment.
